Kidney stones are often called the worst pain on earth. Personal horror stories abound about them. No wonder, look at the photo, can you imagine passing that? It’s easy to believe that horrific pain would be the only sign you’ve developed a kidney stone, but what if there are other early warning signs? Great news, there are signs that you have an impending stone, and being aware might give you enough time to deal with it before the pain really hits.
What Is a Kidney Stone? As the term implies, a kidney stone is a hard deposit, which can be located anywhere in the urinary tract from the kidneys to the bladder. Stones form when urine is too concentrated, allowing crystals to form. What they’re made of determines which of four types they are: Calcium stones, the most common type, consist of oxalate, phosphate, or carbonate. These account for 75-85% of all stones. Uric acid stones are formed from uric acid. Struvite stones are made from calcium, magnesium, and ammonium phosphate. Cystine stones, which are hereditary, come from a build-up of cystine, which is not adequately reabsorbed, combined with lysine, arginine, and ornithine. Three Warning Signs Most kidney stones pass through the urinary tract with no trouble. Unfortunately, some do not. Left untreated, they can result in terrible pain. Of course, you do not want to wait until that happens, so knowing early symptoms can save you some real misery. Here are 3 signs that you may be developing a stone. 1. Urinating Frequently Men are much more likely to suffer from kidney stones, so many men try to ignore frequent urination because it’s also a symptom of prostate problems, something that many men find difficult to face. Do not ignore frequent urination. Not only is it a nuisance that can interfere with your daily activities, it can also be a flag for a serious problem. If it proves to be caused by a kidney stone, catching it early may save you from incredible pain. 2. Blood in Urine Blood in the urine can have many causes, including infections. But don’t make any assumptions about it. If your urine is discolored pink, red, or brown, it could be caused by a kidney stone. If you try your favorite home remedy for urinary infections and it doesn’t work, do not ignore the problem, try another. 3. Repetitive Urinary Tract Infections Kidney stones can cause urinary tract infections (UTIs). As a result, if you’ve recently healed one, only to realize that you are getting another, it may be because of a stone. Do not simply repeat treatment of a UTI, or you may end up with another horrific kidney stone experience! If you experience any of these indications, don’t ignore it! The earlier you discover kidney stones, the more likely it is that you will be able to take care of it with natural methods. Of course, don’t forget about supporting the health of your kidneys. Keep in mind that certain foods and herbs can help clean your urinary tract and prevent stones from forming. Finally, do not forget to drink water! Remember that a primary cause of stones is concentrated urine, so keep yourself well-hydrated. #Kidney #Kidneystones #Hydrated #Eating #Health Please like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for all the updates and news

Quinoa one of the super-foods you should add to your diet regularly and
the health benefits of quinoa Quinoa is a crop that’s primarily grown in Peru. It’s often described as a grain although, technically, is not one and is actually more closely related to spinach and beets. It’s grain comparisons, however, are the result of its edible seeds, which are milled and used in a fashion similar to flour. Quinoa has been a dietary staple in several South American countries for many years. Recently, it has become much more popular in the United States, Canada, and Asia because of its healthful properties, range of uses, and lack of gluten. Quinoa is Very Nutritious Quinoa is a fantastic food choice for many reasons. It has a high protein quality and several other nutritional properties. Quinoa has a great amino acid balance and near-ideal proportion of omega-6. It is an important source of minerals and vitamins, especially vitamin E. Additionally, quinoa contains polyphenols, phytosterols, and flavonoids, which are thought to offer nutraceutical benefits; and it has high antioxidant activity. Quinoa is also very usable; it has functional characteristics such as solubility, freeze stability, and gelation that allow it to be used in many ways. Quinoa is a Satisfying Food A food’s satiety is its ability to make you feel full. Believe it or not, many of the very tasty foods that are popular in the modern western diet lack this quality — which is probably why it’s a little too easy to eat an entire bag of chips in one sitting. The Department of Food Science and Microbiology at the University of Milan compared the satiety of alternative crops, including quinoa, with wheat and rice. The result? The satiety for alternative crop foods was highest; white bread was the least satisfying food. Because quinoa satisfies your appetite and satisfies it quicker than less nutritious food, it has garnered attention for its potential to impact eating behavior (specifically, making you eat less). Quinoa is Excellent for a Gluten-Free Diet Gluten sensitivity and allergies are increasingly common; one of the most common related conditions is celiac disease. Celiac disease is a chronic redness and irritation of the intestines and it’s triggered by dietary gluten. Persons with celiac disease simply cannot consume gluten-containing foods in any amount; the only solution for relief is to follow a gluten free diet Because persons with celiac disease have to follow a limited diet, it’s relatively common for them to experience minor nutritional deficiencies. The Department of Gastroenterology at King’s College London and Columbia University’s Celiac Disease Center both recommend alternative grain-based foods, like quinoa, as an important source of nutrients for patients with celiac disease. Try Quinoa! Many foods today are loaded with unhealthy, junk carbohydrates and contribute to the incidence of diabetes, heart disease, and digestive ailments. Many people have improved their life by incorporating quinoa and whole grains into their diet. [8] Quinoa is available at many health food stores, and even some mainstream grocery stores. It costs a little more but the benefits are worth it — we’re talking about your health. Have you tried quinoa? Do you have a favorite recipe? If so, please leave a comment below and share it with us! #Quinoa #Food #Superfoods #Eating #Health Please like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for all the updates and news ![]()
You know that whole early bird catches the worm thing? There really might be something to it when it comes to shedding pounds. Part of it has to do with the way most of us are wired: Early-morning sunshine leaves us feeling alert, energized, and focused, and this mindset makes it easier to take on habits that help you stick to your weight-loss goals. There's also a psychological aspect: When you start off your day accomplishing some of the things on your to-do list, you're less likely to throw in the towel later in the day. Make these seven moves part of your morning routine—and watch the pounds come off with a lot less effort than you'd think.
Sleep In a Little Of course, you don't want to wake up so late that you're in a frantic rush to get dressed and make it to work on time. But giving yourself even an extra half-hour of snooze time can make a difference. "Not feeling rested makes you more likely to eat throughout the day,". Plus, studies suggest that persistent lack of sleep screws with certain hormones, negatively influencing metabolism. Soak Up the Sun Open the curtains or draw your blinds as soon as you can. The blast of UV light has a mood-brightening, energizing effect—and a recent study found that people who got a dose of daily sunshine had lower BMIs than those who stayed in the dark. What's the reason? Researchers think morning rays help synch up your body clock so your metabolism gets cranked up. Nosh on Protein You've heard a million times that eating a healthy breakfast can give you the energy and satiety to resist junk cravings all day. But complex carbs alone won't give you the kick that a protein-carb combo (with a little fat thrown in) can. That's what will make you feel full and promote steady blood-sugar levels. Easy ideas: egg whites and whole-grain toast or Greek yogurt and fruit. Drink Your Breakfast, Too Consuming solid food helps fill you up, but also hydrating with a tall glass of water in the morning will flush out resolve-killing bloat. If you're craving juice, go with water with lemon or lime instead. This will give you fruit flavor without all that sugar and the added calories (we're talking 100 calories in an eight-ounce glass of OJ). Work in a (Mini) Sweat Session Are you one of those morning workout people who love to go for a run or do a yoga workout DVD in the a.m.? Keep it up; it boosts your metabolism, keeps cravings at bay, and makes you feel positive and accomplished. But if you're not, you can still reap the benefits. Even 10 minutes of stretching, yoga, or just running in place can get your blood flowing, your body moving, and your metabolism cranked up—so it stays high all day. Pack Snacks If you can swing it, making a brown-bag lunch is a good idea, too. But this can take up more time than you have in the a.m., so concentrate on packing a few healthy, low-cal snacks. Making bad snack choices during the day is a notorious diet-ruiner, so it's smart to arm yourself with a baggie of almonds or apple slices with peanut butter to help thwart the urge to make a fro-yo or frappacino run that packs on junk calories. Walk Part of the Way to Work Try parking your car in a lot blocks from your office, or walk one short leg of your commute rather than hopping on a bus or train. The benefits: It's another excuse to move around, burning a few calories and powering your metabolism. Plus, a recent study found that people who didn't take a car to work were more likely to have a lower BMI. #health #fit #weight #food #drinks Please like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for all the updates and news ![]()
A clinical study, conducted at Lund University in Sweden, shows that eating blueberries can ease and protect against intestinal irritation. They also found that these beneficial effects on the body are increased by the consumption of probiotic bacteria along with the berries.
The two researchers, Camilla Bränning and Åsa Håkansson, have found that when taken together, blueberries and common strains of probiotic bacteria performed better than either did when tested alone. They also found this combination to be more effective in fighting the symptoms of intestinal disease than probiotics paired with other types of dietary fiber such as oat and rye bran. They theorize that this is because blueberries have strong antioxidative properties that many other fiber-rich foods, particularly grains, lack. These qualities give blueberries a somewhat unique ability to ward off irritation caused by harmful organisms that irritate the lining of the intestines. This in turn allows naturally occurring beneficial flora as well as transient probiotics to better colonize the intestines. Another advantage of combining blueberries with probiotics is a noticeable increase in specialized acids that are formed by soluble fiber as it is dissolved in the intestines and enters the bloodstream. These acids, known as butyric and propionic acids, are a well-known source of essential energy for the intestinal cells. The humble blueberry’s ability to help the body heal and revitalize delicate intestinal tissue is an impressive feat on its own, but the benefits it offers when combined with a good probiotic are simply amazing. If you’re already a fan of blueberries, and are looking for an all-natural probiotic supplement to help counteract the symptoms of intestinal disease, I strongly recommend that you give Latero-Flora a try. Its unique formula is a safe, proven way to help your body maintain its natural digestive balance. This new research only reinforces the importance of eating healthful, nutritious foods such as blueberries. It also reminds us of the importance of maintaining a digestive environment that promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestines. By supplementing a proper diet with a high-quality probiotic, not only can you help to ensure that your body gets the absolute most out of the foods you eat, you can also combat the symptoms of intestinal disease. Have you ever tried Raw Milk? Which One Is Healthier for You & Your Family?
I remember as a small boy we had the option to pick up the milk from the local farm if we run out at home. It was so creamy and so much tastier. Sometimes we drunk all the milk we had at home during the day so we would run out and get fresh one from the farm. J Since the early 1930’s our government has been “protecting” us from the “dangers” of whole, raw milk. How do they do this? By actually killing the whole, raw milk by pasteurizing it! Interestingly, pasteurization also increases the shelf life of milk, making it much easier to mass-market, maximizing profits for the dairy industry. Real milk comes from real goats or cows that are allowed to graze in toxin free pastures. Besides tasting great, raw organic milk is a precious, life-giving food. But extreme temperatures used to pasteurize (“cook”) the milk can actually render it life-depleting. Pasteurization destroys almost all of the nutritive value of cow’s milk. The milk everybody drinks today is far from a whole food, and in my research is not fit for human consumption. Pasteurization also destroys beneficial bacteria found in raw milk. It kills the natural enzymes and destroys the chemical make-up of calcium in raw milk. Calcium is vital to the growth and health of children. Pasteurization has been implicated in everything from allergies to heart disease to cancer. Truly, the resulting product after pasteurization is not raw and living, but rather “killed and dead.” Raw Milk: Why the Fuss? The fuss about raw milk has to do with pathogens – organisms that can cause diseases such as Salmonella. But whether or not raw milk carries pathogens depends totally on the way the milk is produced, how the animals are fed, and the care that’s taken to keep the milk clean during production. Today’s pasteurized milk comes from cows crammed in cages loaded with synthetic hormones and antibiotics. Homogenizing purposely destroys raw milk’s natural butterfat in an effort to separate and hide the cream from the consumer. European studies show that this is dangerous and may cause heart disease. Of course our FDA disputes this. Homogenized milk is quite unnatural! Back in the 20’s Americans could buy raw, clean, grass-fed milk and cheese – and at that time milk-borne diseases were rare. Can you believe that suppliers of organic, raw milk today are required to display the words “Not fit for human consumption”? It’s true! I firmly believe that true health starts in the colon. Raw milk contains the milk sugar “lactose” in its purest form, and lactose aids in digestion and elimination. And organic, raw milk is the only food that has it in a usable form! I personally am not a animal milk drinker, but if I was I would only consume raw goat milk. The Nutritional Benefits of Raw MilkHere’s just a sampling of the nutritional benefits of raw, organic milk · Organic, raw milk is a complete food, loaded with minerals, protein and vitamins. Raw milk contains an amazing selection of minerals ranging from calcium and phosphorus to trace elements. Pasteurization destroys them and they must be re-supplied. · Raw milk has 20 of the standard amino acids. · Up to 80% of the proteins in raw milk are easy to digest — some are complex antibodies. · Raw milk is abundant in calcium — legendary for its benefits for teeth, bones etc. · It is also loaded with enzymes that have an array of health benefiting functions. · Raw milk is alive with beneficial bacteria that aid digestion and protect against disease-carrying organisms. A Historical Look at Raw Milk Humans have drank raw milk, long before the pasteurization process began. Here’s a look at the history of raw milk and how it was used for many generations before ours. o The earliest possible records show that man valued milk intensely, including milk from goats, camels, horses, even reindeer! And most certainly it was of the unpasteurized, raw organic variety. Herdsmen in Asia coveted milk even before the Bible praised the “land of milk and honey.” o Most people don’t know that raw organic milk from grass-fed animals was actually used as a medicine in the 1920’s. The Mayo Foundation used a diet of raw milk as a remedy for heart failure, diabetes, kidney disease, chronic fatigue and obesity. · From the time of Hippocrates until just after World War II, this miracle food nourished and healed millions. Today, in Germany, successful raw milk therapy is provided in many hospitals. · Studies show that raw milk is very effective in preventing scurvy and protecting against flu, diphtheria and pneumonia. Raw milk prevents tooth decay, even in children who eat a lot of sugar. · And it’s amazing to think that, almost always, the folks known most for their great health and long life, like the Bulgarians and Russians, are heavy consumers of raw milk and milk products, not to mention that they eat hardly any meat! How to Find Raw Milk Depending where you are, find a farm and purchase directly and fresh in the morning or after the evening milking. There’s a huge demand today for organic raw milk and milk products. That’s because people are becoming more aware of the life-giving benefits of raw milk. But dairy farmers who have been supplying raw organic milk to consumers are increasingly at odds with local and state government, who are oblivious to the adverse effects of pasteurization. In California, Governor Schwarzenegger signed legislation requiring pasteurization of all raw milk in California. California will go from being one of the most raw-milk friendly states to one of the most restrictive. And that’s a pity. Fortunately, an abundance of small organic farms across the country are willing to continue to stick their necks out and sell raw organic milk, and raw organic milk products like cheese, butter and yogurt – in spite of the risk from the long arm of the FDA. “If you cannot get a high-quality milk, raw and unpasteurized, guaranteed to be from organically raised animals and 100% free from chemical additives, drugs, detergents, and insecticide and herbicide residues, then you will be better off to omit milk and milk products from your diet.” As a vegan alternative, try drinking organic nut and seed milks. My favorite is Hemp Milk. Please like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for all the updates and news ![]()
Why You Need Carbs After A Workout I have friends who think cutting out the Carbs is good for them. Carbohydrates have gotten a pretty bad reputation in the last few years. People have made the drastic switch from a low-fat diet to a low-carb diet, all but eliminating carbs from their menus. This led to a lot of health problems, as the human body needs carbs in order to function. As one study proved, carbs are even more important after an workout.
A study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology found carbs are the best food to help protect your body after intense exercise. Specifically, they will prevent infections from setting in following a high-intensity workout. You see, exercise causes a brief period of reduced immune function, or immunosuppression right after the workout. For a short amount of time, your white blood cell count is reduced, as are circulating lymphocytes. This leaves your immune system weakened and vulnerable to infections. Our bodies scramble to try and protect themselves after a workout, but this can lead to susceptibility to illness. The more strenuous the workout, the longer your body needs to recover. It's why high-intensity exercise is known to increase the risk of infections—such as upper respiratory infections. But the consumption of carbohydrates immediately following your workout can help to avoid the negative immune system changes. Eating carbs during and right after your workout provides the glucose and fructose your body turns into energy. It also helps to sustain your blood sugar levels, which in turn reduces your body's stress response and stops your immune system from being compromised. Just 30 to 60 grams of carbs within the first hour or two after your workout can make all the difference. Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Governator himself, made post-workout carb consumption popular decades ago. Carbs are the ideal recovery food, as they provide the glucose your body needs to replenish burned glycogen. Most protein powders contain some carbs along with the protein, which is why they are such a great post-workout recovery choice. But even if you're not taking protein powder, you should still add some carbs into your post-workout snack. Just a few grams (30-60) should do the trick. Not only will it help to stabilize your immune system, but it will ensure that you have plenty of energy after finishing the workout. You'll avoid the post-exercise fatigue that makes you feel sleepy and low-energy for the rest of your day. Best of all, your body will be protected against illness and infection. #Food #Diet #Carbs #Carbohydrates #Gym #Bodybuilding Please like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for all the updates and news ![]()
A vegan diet contains only plants – such as vegetables, grains, nuts and fruits – and foods made from plants.
Vegans don't eat foods that come from animals, including dairy products and eggs. Healthy eating as a vegan. You should be able to get most of the nutrients you need from eating a varied and balanced vegan diet. For a healthy vegan diet:
If you're having foods and drinks that are high in fat, salt or sugar, have these less often and in small amounts.Vegan diet is suitable for everyone but the only group it is not suitable for is children under two years of age, because they have different needs. Getting the right nutrients from a vegan diet. With good planning and an understanding of what makes up a healthy, balanced vegan diet, you can get all the nutrients your body needs. If you don't plan your diet properly, you could miss out on essential nutrients, such as calcium, iron and vitamin B12. Vegans who are pregnant or breastfeeding. During pregnancy and when breastfeeding, women who follow a vegan diet need to make sure they get enough vitamins and minerals for their child to develop healthily. If you're bringing up your baby or child on a vegan diet, you need to ensure they get a wide variety of foods to provide the energy and vitamins they need for growth. Vegan sources of calcium and vitamin D Calcium is needed for strong and healthy bones and teeth. Non-vegans get most of their calcium from dairy foods (milk, cheese and yoghurt), but vegans can get it from other foods. Good sources of calcium for vegans include:
A 30g portion of dried fruit counts as one of your 5 A DAY, but should be eaten at mealtimes, not as a between-meal snack, to reduce the impact on teeth. The body needs vitamin D to regulate the amount of calcium and phosphate in the body. These nutrients help keep bones, teeth and muscles healthy. Vegan sources of vitamin D are: exposure to summer sunshine (late March/April to the end of September) – remember to cover up or protect your skin before it starts to turn red or burn; see vitamin D and sunlight fortified fat spreads, breakfast cereals and unsweetened soya drinks (with vitamin D added) vitamin D supplements Read the label to ensure the vitamin D used in a product is not of animal origin. Vegan sources of iron Iron is essential for the production of red blood cells. A vegan diet can be high in iron, although iron from plant-based food is absorbed by the body less well than iron from meat. Good sources of iron for vegans are:
Vegan sources of Vitamin B12 The body needs vitamin B12 to maintain healthy blood and a healthy nervous system. Vitamin B12 is only found naturally in foods from animal sources. Sources for vegans are therefore limited and a vitamin B12 supplement may be needed. Sources of vitamin B12 for vegans include:
Evidence suggests that plant sources of omega-3 fatty acids may not have the same benefits in reducing the risk of heart disease as those in oily fish. However, if you follow a vegan diet you can still look after your heart by eating at least five portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables every day, by cutting down on food that is high in saturated fat, and watching how much salt you eat. #social #tipsinstyle #hospitality #food #drinks Please like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for all the updates and news
Wanking, jerking, using the toys, choking the chicken, filling the hole, whatever you want to call it—you know what I mean. Masturbating is a common activity that pretty much everyone on the planet has thought about, tried, or got caught doing. However, there's one question we might all be thinking, but not asking out loud: does masturbating burn calories?
Well, stranger, I have the answer. The short answer: yes. Everything burns calories, from setting your neighbor's house on fire, to killing your cheating ex-boyfriend, and even jerking off. The better question is: how many calories? First, we have to figure out how long of a session we're talking about. If you're taking a nice, long, leisurely stroll down ole' orgasm lane, then you'll be burning more calories. But if you're really quick and are in a hurry because you're afraid your roommate is coming home, you're not burning as many calories. Think of masturbating as a workout, because that's essentially what it is. The longer you spend on your stroke game, the more your heart is in the zone. If you're beating your meat faster than your ex could, or filling your hole with something longer than five inches every .000381 seconds, you're going to be burning more calories than the person who wants to enjoy their masturbating. The key here is your heart rate. The faster your heart rate, the more likely you are to make this a cardio exercise. The length of your session matter, and so does the speed of your movements. Shoving your fingers into an orifice won't burn as many calories compared to grasping your meat stick. Or if you're super crazy and you're doubling it up and doing both—you'll be burning more calories than the average masturbator because there is more action and therefore more cardio. After searching for some statistics and doing some of my own calculations, it appears to be that the average number of calories burned when masturbating is around 70. All things considered, that's not too bad, and it might just be that cardio you were looking for that the gym didn't offer. Make some ooh's and ahh's 1.5 times, and you can burn the same amount of calories as if you were briskly walking a mile away from a hookup's house. Feeling daring? Subscribe to Pornhub Premium and shoot 38.5 times to burn the same amount of calories as someone who just ran a marathon (around 2,700). Sing for about 45 minutes about how much you love masturbating and you'll burn the same amount if you do masturbate, about 70. Cry for an hour and burn 130 calories or fill your void for two go-arounds and burn the same amount and cry no more. So how many calories have you burned having a good time with yourself? Are you a double-decker with filling and releasing? Which of these comparisons fits you better? Are you the fast 'bator, or are you slow and take your time? Mindfulness has several benefits, one of them being the ability to cultivate a stronger mind. Bad thoughts tend to stick in our minds like glue and it can be hard to get them to let go and if they do, they always come right back around. When you’re letting these thoughts cloud up your mind, you’re left feeling out of place and foggy.
When you’re being mindful, that way of thinking is like the shovel that’s clearing all the junk out of your head. It clears up space in your brain so you can see clearly again. Your negative thoughts suddenly lose their ability to stick in your mind and ruin your day. They simply float away like leaves in the wind, as if they’re just passing through. How to silence the inner critic We all have that inner critic that screams at us from the back of our mind and we have a tendency to take what it says a little too seriously. When you’re being mindful and aware, you learn to not carry around the little things that critic says about you. You’re able to detach yourself from your critic and not get caught up in the negativity it’s trying to spread around. But the best way to get to that point of non-identification, you have to actually listen to that inner critic without taking anything it says to heart. Non identification is the idea that you no longer hold onto thoughts that your inner critic is saying. Examine what it is that critic is saying and realize that those things are not accurate and definitely not helpful to your personal growth. The more you understand where these thoughts are coming from, the more you’re able to identify with the parts of your psyche that are kind and clear. This positive voice inside your head will be the one you can turn to for advice and for support. The more you do this, the less likely you are to listen to that critic who has nothing but negativity to offer you. One more useful strategy to silence the critic. Another way to work on non identification is working on your emotional reactivity. When something happens that isn’t to your liking, do you often get swept up in your emotions whether that be anger, sadness, etc.? In these times, it’s best to step outside yourself for a moment and try to see thing from the other person’s perspective. Perhaps they were even right in the argument or discussion you were having. Defensiveness is a poor reaction to any situation. When your critic is screaming out judgments at you, take it with a grain of salt. They’re just opinions and they have no bearing in your life, so let them just roll off your back like it’s nothing. Don’t take ownership One more tool to grasp non identification is not taking ownership of the negative criticism and thoughts. When we screw up, sometimes our brain’s first reaction is to start criticizing right off the bat. “You could have done better than that!” it shouts. But these thoughts aren’t you. Don’t take the burden on by taking responsibility for these thoughts. Let them go and don’t take them so personally. A 6 step reflective meditation technique Now let’s try a reflective meditation to try and practice non identification with your inner critic. 1. Close your eyes and picture that your mind is as wide and open as the sky. 2. Look at the sky and let your mind dance with that space so that you end up feeling just as vast. 3. Your thoughts are the clouds that you see passing by. 4. Now picture one of your negative thoughts is attached to that cloud and watch as it passes by. 5. Take some time to notice how that negative thought doesn’t stick to the sky around it. It simple keeps on moving through the empty space, just like it should in the vast space of your mind. 6. When you feel ready, end the meditation and open your eyes. Take time to move slowly and stretch out your body. This exercise can help you visualize how to actually let the negativity roll off of you without worry. Being aware of your thoughts is much easier than trying to fight with them. So next time you feel the negativity flowing, picture the clouds and the sky and the vastness of your mind. Please like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for all the updates and news ![]() Zen is about living a life of simplicity, tranquility and mindfulness in the present moment. It’s not any more complicated than this. I hope you find below quotes as useful as I did. “When composing a verse let there not be a hair’s breath separating your mind from what you write; composition of a poem must be done in an instant, like a woodcutter felling a huge tree or a swordsman leaping at a dangerous enemy.”― Bashō Matsuo “When it is understood that one loses joy and happiness in the attempt to possess them, the essence of natural farming will be realized. The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings.”― Masanobu Fukuoka “Not till your thoughts cease all their branching here and there, not till you abandon all thoughts of seeking for something, not till your mind is motionless as wood or stone, will you be on the right road to the Gate.”― Huang Po “To preserve the silence within–amid all the noise. To remain open and quiet, a moist humus in the fertile darkness where the rain falls and the grain ripens–no matter how many tramp across the parade ground in whirling dust under an arid sky.”― Dag Hammarskjöld “Your life is your practice. Your spiritual practice does not occur someplace other than in your life right now, and your life is nowhere other than where you are. You are looking for answers, insight, and wisdom that you already possess. Live the life in front of you, be the life you are, and see what you find out for yourself.”― Karen Maezen Miller “What is first seen as a loss is now seen as a gain. For he finds solitude, not in far off, quite places; he creates it out of himself, spreads it around him, wherever he may be, because he loves it and slowly he ripens in this tranquility. For the inner process is beginning to unfold, stillness is extraordinarily important.”― Janwillem van de Wetering “To deny the reality of things is to miss their reality; to assert the emptiness of things is to miss their reality. The more you talk and think about it, the further astray you wander from the truth. Stop talking and thinking and there is nothing you will not be able to know.”― Sengcan, Hsin Hsin Ming “Zen is not some fancy, special art of living. Our teaching is just to live, always in reality, in its exact sense. To make our effort, moment after moment, is our way. In an exact sense, the only thing we actually can study in our life is that on which we are working in each moment. We cannot even study Buddha’s words.”― Shunryu Suzuki “The baby looks at things all day without winking; that is because his eyes are not focused on any particular object. He goes without knowing where he is going, and stops without knowing what he is doing. He merges himself within the surroundings and moves along with it. These are the principles of mental hygiene.”― Zhuangzi “So we should be concentrated with our full mind and body on what we do; and we should be faithful, subjectively and objectively, to ourselves, and especially to our feelings. Even when you do not feel so well, it is better to express how you feel without any particular attachment or intention. So you may say, “Oh, I am sorry, I do not feel well.”― Shunryu Suzuki “Zen is a liberation from time. For if we open our eyes and see clearly, it becomes obvious that there is no other time than this instant, and that the past and the future are abstractions without any concrete reality.”― Alan W. Watts “For the unified mind in accord with the Way all self-centered striving ceases. Doubts and irresolutions vanish and life in true faith is possible. With a single stroke we are freed from bondage; nothing clings to us and we hold nothing. All is empty, clear, self-illuminating, with no exertion of the mind’s power.”― Sengcan Please like us on Facebook and follow us in Twitter for all the updates and news |
